Hello, hello, it's good to be back

No, I haven't 'run out of bile' as our resident troll (who still hasn't learned these comments are moderated) tried to put it over the last few days, I've just been unable to get online for a couple of weeks due to a series of circumstances so bizarre and unusual (involving one of the world's oldest universities, a £2 debt, a job interview, and a hundred mile taxi ride at midnight) that I won't go into them here.
I'll be posting a proper update in a few hours (talking about the 'we need an iTunes for comics' that people keep talking about, and what we really need), and if people would like to see it I'll do at least brief reviews of all the comics I've bought recently on Sunday (covering the last couple of weeks).
But this post is just to say I've received notification from comicbookresources.com that someone has repeatedly been trying to access my forum account from the IP address 74.53.243.34 , which is in Dallas.
I have not posted to any message board (as opposed to mailing list or blog) in the last year or more, as I find they tend to make my level of argument descend to snarling rather than discourse rather quickly, and I had to quit them cold turkey. As a result, if you see anyone posting on any comics-related message board using my name, it is not me, but is someone else trying to take over my account...

I'm well aware the comments are "moderated," aka anything that's critical of you is censored. It must be nice to be able to maintain your ego by pushing out anything that doesn't support it.

Of course you know eventually you'll be left with no feedback at all. Oh well, I guess no validation is better than selective validation.

*Sigh*...
I've let this one through because for this post it's on-topic.
I've not 'censored' anybody, and certainly not for being 'critical of [me]'. I have neither the power nor the desire to prevent you expressing your opinion of me as vociferously as you want. Were you to start http://andrewhickeyisfatanduglywithunpleasantbodyodourandunfashionabletasteinclothing.blogspot.com or alt.andrew-hickey.hate.hate.hate , for example, you could post whatever you wanted about my personal attributes without any 'censorship' whatsoever.

Similarly, on the few occasions when your insults have in some way been tied to the content of the post (for example when I've posted about my music and you've said it 'sucks') I've let those through, because they actually have something to do with the content of the post.

But this blog does not exist to discuss my personal attributes and your comments about same are noise, rather than signal. There are quite a few people who visit this blog and actually want to talk about the ideas raised, such as they are. The purpose of this comments section is for discussion of those ideas - whether by people who agree or disagree with me.

Were your 'criticisms' actually anything to do with the text you purport to criticise, even if not related to the point of the post (if you attacked my overuse of ellipses, my fondness for Latinate rather than Anglo-Saxon vocabulary, or my rather subclause-heavy sentence structure) they would be allowed through. As it is your comments have slightly less relevance to what I'm writing than does penis-enhancement spam, and are as much of an impediment to meaningful discourse. As such, they will be treated the same way.

That sounds like the "random subjects suggested by the audience" round on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

What the hell is the point of an anonymous troll on someone's personal comic blog? That is pretty much the ultimate symbol of way too much time on your hands.

I enjoy your stuffins Mr. Hickey, even if I don't always agree.
